RadioMaster Tx16 with JR module issue
#11
Falco,

I capped my OpenTx at version 2.3.14 as everything I needed worked well with that release.  Before that when OpenTx 2.3.9 was out, Jim Drew made an accommodation in the XPS-J1 module code to work around a bug in the OpenTx XJT-16 implementation.  OpenTx later fixed their problem with OpenTx version 2.3.10.  I finally upgraded to OpenTx 2.3.14 because it fixed a problem where the little lithium battery in the transmitter that saves the memory was being depleted too quickly.

So, now I'm sitting at OpenTx 2.3.14 for a couple of years without any troubles with the XPS-J1 module.

It is possible that EdgeTx introduced some new bug in their XJT-D16 implementation that is causing your problem.

Sorry for the slow reply,
yes I imagine its possible.  My issue has only occurred with my TX16s and EdgeTx.  Without a definitive solution, I've chosen to put my JR module back in PPM mode (don't need more than 8 channels).  I will use it like this on more expendable models till I feel the issue is no longer present.  Starting next year I will likely start replacing my Nanos for ELRS receivers just to get some telemetry. No complaints on the XPS equipment. In around 15yrs of use I've only gone down once due to LOC. That occurred this year and I believe is was due to this issue. With almost all of the hardware we use to control our RC aircraft running on some type of software\firmware I imagine its very difficult to identify and correct a very intermittent issue like this.

PPM is fine.  I use it with my Futaba 9C transmitter.  I've also used it for a short time with the JR module and a Taranis and it was fine there too.  We XPS users are at a crossroads now.  Maybe XPS will pull something out of its hat and surprise us all.  Good luck and be well.  Paul
