Changes:

v2.2 - 10/23/19 ** INTERNAL TEST RELEASE **

  • Added support for Graupner SUMD v3.
  • Fixed issue with Failsafe defaulting to Rx instead of X24 in the Input Mode when doing a RESET of the settings.
  • Added ability to display infinite number of pages of channels in the Channel Info display.
  • Changed failsafe handling to now check and show all receiver's frame loss instead of ignoring all other receivers after finding the first receiver with a valid packet.  This helps with setup of antennas.
  • Fixed displaying Channel Info for 10/11 bit Spektrum satellite frames.

 v2.3 - 11/11/19
  • Added "Advanced" menu option.
  • Added RxWindow under Advanced menu, which is the amount of time (us) to wait after the last byte of serial data has been received, before processing all of the serial packets.  This allows handling receivers that have different firmware or even hardware that might result in different lengths of time to decode and send serial data packets.  Only change when known issue exists!
  • Changed power-off routine to flicker STATUS LED for 1/2 second while powering down instead of simply delaying 2 seconds before actually powering off.

Exclamation End of life cycle/warranty notice

We are no longer able to obtain several of the parts necessary to repair the original 8 and 10 channel full range receivers, and 6 channel "park flyer" receivers (not the same as the Nano receivers). So, effective June 6th, 2018 we can no longer offer a warranty for these items.

Information XtremeLink Range Testing Procedure - Updated: 06/29/18

Range Test Procedure for v3.0 and later firmware (anything sold after October 2008):

Range test for full range receivers:


1.  Install the receiver in the R/C device as it will be used.
2.  Turn on the radio system so servo movement can be observed.  Note: antenna should be ON the module.
 3. Using flat ground (pavement, low cut grass, or dirt) place the R/C device so that the receiver antenna is no less than 6" from the ground. This might require you elevating the R/C device during the testing.
 4.  Hold your transmitter waist high, away from your body.
 5.  Press and hold the PROG button on the transmitter module.
 6. Walk to a distance of at least 125 feet.  If at any time you experience a pause in controls, try to reproduce it again and release the button to see if the pause no longer occurs. If the problem does not occur now, check to make sure that your receiver is at least 6" from the ground while testing.
7. With the PROG button still pressed down, walk away from the R/C device while moving the sticks until there is intermittent control. Releasing the PROG button should restore 100% control.  If it does not, do not use the system and contact Xtreme Power Systems for assistance!
8.  Test complete.
 
 
Range test for surface or park flyer receivers:

Follow the instructions of above. The range test will be limited to approximately 75 feet instead of at least 125 feet for full range receivers.

Range Test Procedure for v2.9 and earlier firmware (anything sold before October 2008):

To perform a range test of the XtremeLink system using the transmitter module that has the removable antenna, follow the instructions below. Have someone help you if there is any possibility of the R/C device moving from a stationary location.

Range test for full range receivers:

1.  Install the receiver in the R/C device as it will be used.
2.  Remove the antenna from the transmitter module.
3.  Turn on the radio system so servo movement can be observed.
4. Using flat ground (pavement, low cut grass, or dirt) place the R/C device so that the receiver antenna is no less than 6" from the ground. This might require you elevating the R/C device during the testing.
5.  Hold your transmitter waist high, away from your body.
6.  Press and hold the PROG button on the transmitter module.
7. Walk around the R/C device completely (360 degrees) at a distance of at least 50 feet, making sure that the transmitter antenna connector is pointed at the R/C device. If at any time you experience a pause in controls, try to reproduce it again and release the button to see if the pause no longer occurs. If the problem does not occur now, check to make sure that your receiver is at least 6" from the ground while testing.
8. With the PROG button still pressed down, walk away from the R/C device while moving the sticks until there is intermittent control. Note the distant of when intermittent operation begins.
9. Continue walking the same distance. If you walked 100 feet before intermittent operation occurred, you would walk an additional 100 feet.
10. Now, without any control, re-install the antenna on your transmitter module (do not release the PROG button). The R/C device should immediately respond. If it does not respond 100% fully, do not use the system and contact Xtreme Power Systems for assistance!
11.  Test complete.


Range test for surface or park flyer receivers:

Follow the instructions of above. The range test will be limited to approximately 25 feet instead of 50 feet for full range receivers.

Information Using Nano with Serial Link to emulate the XDP

If you have a spare Nano and the Serial Link, you essentially also have our XDP hardware.  Using these two devices you can fool any of our programs that use the XDP hardware into thinking that a real XDP is present.  To use the Nano and Serial Link as an XDP, do the following:

1. Connect the Serial Link to your USB port.
2. Connect one end of a JR female-female cable to the Serial Link, noting the proper polarity.
2. Place the jumper on the binding port of the Nano.
3. Plug the other end of the JR female-female into output port 6 on the Nano, noting the proper polarity.    The LED will rapidly flash.
4. After a second or so of the LED rapidly flashing, remove the jumper that is on the binding port.  The LED on the Nano will now be solid red.
5. Place the jumper back on the binding port (and leave it on).  The LED will rapidly flash 10 times and then turn solid red.

That's it!  Now your Serial Link/Nano combination is a XDP!  This of course is not permanent.  Removing power will return the devices back to their original purpose.
