Hi,

I am setting up a new airplane and I will use a Nano receiver.  The one I want to use is currently in another plane.

In the meantime I plan to use a different Nano that I have in my spares to center the servos and set up the pushrods.

Will using two different Nano receivers make any difference in the servo output positions?

I have gone to the website, ordered a X16 and a LED, and haven't gotten a response. Sent a email to the company and didn't recieve a response. What's the situation on these products?

Sending this post to you first as a starter, wan't to find out whether it is me stuffing up or some changes made in Edge.
Can go back to 2.7 but rather not.

Have been sucessfully binding and flying an RM TX16S with Edge 2.7 and XPS mode across 6 different nanos.
One of my models needs 12 ch, so XPS is the best answer.
Using prior versions of Edge and must confess I didn't range test after upgrading to 2.7 but all seemed good.

Then upgraded to 2.8 nightly 2133d42b and can no longer bind as XPS mode no longer functions. Seems that comms fail to Ext module.

Reverted to PPM 8 Ch in Tx changed JR module to PPM and successfully bound  after resetting the nano, but the range test fails at 45 feet with the button pushed in.  I have tried different nano's and different JR modules.
Flew an old model to test and have a video of intermittent loss of control, but got the model down.

Are there any changes you are aware of, or any suggestions before I go hunting?

I used the Telemetry Station 10 years ago to monitor the RSSI as seen by an XPS RFU.

Regrettably I took no notes on how I did it.

I used an Immersion RC RF meter to measure the power output from two Futaba Tx modules and two JR modules.  Using the same SMA adapters and directly connecting the same meter:

Futaba Tx module #1, 18.5 dBm

Futaba Tx module #2, 20.3 dBm

JR Tx module #1, 18.6 dBm

JR Tx module #2, 18.6 dBm

The ImmersionRC meter has two measurement modes:  Average and Peak.  These values were taken using Peak mode.  In Average mode the meter doesn't even see the signal, so I cannot be sure about the absolute peak output values.  But the relative difference was consistent.

Would there be any issue with reliability using the Futaba module running at a higher relative output compared to the other modules?

Jim, is it possible to add crossfire compatibility to the X10 with a firmware update?  Express LRS is gaining popularity and I'm looking to pick up a few receivers to experiment with.  The protocol seems to be designed for quads but due to its popularity some are looking to use it in other models.  With some of the most popular Rxs not having PWM outputs it would be nice to combine them with an X10 for a 10 ch Rx.  Yes an crsf to sbus converter can be use but it adds another piece of hardware that would be nice to eliminate

Jim, having problems binding a nano to the FRSKY - I have set it to XJT-D16, 18ms - when I follow procedure, the Tx module with show steady orange and the Nano stays rapid flashing red.  I do not understand what I can be doing wrong:

Power on Nano, add binding plug, solid red, remove binding plug, rapid red flash
Power on the Tx holding the prog button in - when power is fully on, release the prog - LED goes solid orange

Do I need to change a setting on either the Nano or the Tx?

In a new installation I want to use some lengths of the inner tubing from a nylon pushrod as guides for the tips of the RFU antenna.

Will that type of nylon reduce the range of the RFU?

How about a thin plastic coffee stirrer?

And, the small, thinly-spread amount of epoxy to glue the tubes to the wood.

I hope you and you family are well.

I had a failsafe event today with an airplane equipped with an RFU and an X10+ V2. 

I was flying through a stall turn about 200 feet away.  The airplane yawed to the left over the top and was flying downward with the top of the airplane facing me.  The throttle was as a low-to-medium setting at the time.  I started to pull out when the plane pitched up and continued until it was facing nose high, like it was trying to fly a loop.  I did not command that additional up elevator, I was just going to level out.  I recovered airspeed and continued flying it.  It was only a momentary event, lasting a second or two.  I felt that something went wrong so I immediately landed safely.

With the airplane safely on the ground I remembered that my failsafe commands are:

   THROTTLE OFF and
   ELEVATOR UP

Since the throttle was relatively low during the maneuver I did not notice that the throttle may have gone all the way off, but I did experience the up elevator.

I reckon that it was not a power problem because the up elevator went into effect.

My theory was that the RFU antennas were blocked by the airplane's battery and wiring at the "perfect" angle.  I verified it by taping the "range test" button down and walking far enough away to cause a failsafe.  Than I moved in a few steps to where the controls were solid.  Then I oriented the airplane around to various orientations relative to the transmitter (which was sitting still on a chair) and found an angle that caused the system to go into failsafe.  The angle was similar the orientation at the time of the stall turn maneuver.

Only thing - now this gets eve weirder:  My failsafe was set up to put the elevator DOWN, not UP!  I must have not set the failsafe again after putting the X10 into the new plane.  But I felt an uncommanded UP elevator control.  I have no good explanation.  Maybe power?  Maybe the flight battery shifted aft while the plane was going up into the stall turn?

I do not like my current RFU antenna installation because while both antenna elements are oriented 90 degrees to each other, they are both situated horizontally (picture attached).  I reckon with both horizontal, they both could be blocked in the same geometric plane.

I will relocate the RFU and its antenna elements so that one element faces downward and the other faces in a horizontal direction.

Do you agree that this was not a power problem because the servo moved the the failsafe position?  (I'm not ruling it out.)  The airplane uses a Castle BEC regulator set to 5.2 volts.  How about the horizontal and vertical antenna orientation?
