  2 nanos
Posted by: rlocke - 07-12-2025, 11:16 AM - Forum: Nano - Replies (1)

i tried to get 2 nanos to bind as master and slave to no avail. i tried multiple times. each of the nanos worked on channel 1 only.
i gave up and tried to bind both as single use RXs but they only worked on ch 1.
what am i to do?

  Question about Xtreme Protocol
Posted by: flyingw - 06-24-2025, 09:50 AM - Forum: Setup and usage - Replies (2)

Recently I asked many question about SBUS, XJT-D16 and PPM with regards to use with the X10+.  This time my question is about Xtreme protocol.

I configure my Futaba 9C transmitter to communicate with an XPS-F1 transmitter module using PPM.  I configure my Taranis to communicate with an XPS-J1 transmitter module using XJT-D16.  In both cases the receivers communicate with their respective X10+s using Xtreme protocol.

Since both arrangements work perfectly, then I reckon that the Xtreme protocol can adapt to the frame rates and data content of either XJT-D16 or PPM.  And, the X10+ PWM output to the servos comes at the same frame rate that the transmitter sends frames to the XPS transmitter module (either XJT-D16 at 18ms or PPM at 22.5ms).

Is this correct?  Thanks,

Paul

Jim

On that thread "How-to videos" there are two links for videos
They both do not work
Please reinstate them back
One was about how to configure Nanos
the other one was about X10

Photo I've got about a dozen Nanos...
Posted by: RyanNX211 - 05-27-2025, 03:01 PM - Forum: Nano - Replies (1)

I've used Nanos pretty successfully paired with an Aurora A9 and two Tony Stillman Kraft conversions.  I only had two issues in ten years.  One: I tried swapping a Nano for a Spektrum in a Radian Glider and the throttle channel wouldn't work.  Two: There was one old gas engine that made it go bat $hit crazy.  Wouldn't work with anything but Futaba or one of FrSky's gas receivers.   Now there's a company for tinkerers.   Navigating their website is a nightmare.

I'm coming back to less erratic modeling and I'd like to remain part of such an elite group.   Ever since I was a kid when I read about Samson killing Gelilah, I've always rooted for the little guy.   We all know Jim has been mocked by the big shots.   But, if you've ever met him, you know he knows a thing or two  about radios.

What should I do?

Try to run Nano's with Edge Taranis
Posted by: adnapak - 05-25-2025, 01:17 AM - Forum: Nano - Replies (2)

Too old to fly, need toys.

Trying to set up 4 separate engine running tests using a Taranis 9D plus.
Require Thr. Control on all.
Upgraded to edgetx-x9d+, 2.9.2 XJT_ACCST_2.1.0_FCC.frk

This XJT output binds fine with RM R88 Rx’s and similar.
There is no output option apart from XJT in the Tx.

Extreme nano’s accept and run  XJT from the Xtreme XPS-J1 module but not from the internal Taranis XJT module.
Not into these things, but I thought that XJT is XJT regardless.

Would prefer not to use the J1 module, so is there a way around this?

Is it to do with protocols, in which case just have to live with it.  Big Grin

Any thoughts?

  XDP and Telemetry Station
Posted by: flyingw - 04-24-2025, 12:37 PM - Forum: Telemetry - Replies (4)

XPS,

Over the years I've been able to use the XDP device or the Telemetry Station for the XPS Radio System applications like the Programmer, Scanner and Updater.

I just observed that while the Telemetry Station works with the RSSI application, I cannot run it with the XDP device.

Should the XDP work with the RSSI application?  Or, it the RSSI application only intended for only the Telemetry Station?

Thank you,

Paul

  RF module for spectrum?
Posted by: erhard52 - 03-20-2025, 02:59 PM - Forum: Multiplex EVO and Profi - Replies (1)

i am not sure if this entire forum thing here is dead and useless (sad) but i post anyways.
i got the RF module from XPS way back to convert my multiplex EVO pro 16 to XPS.
so i wonder if the XPS model can be programmed or used for the spectrum DSM or DSM2 receivers?

i sort of miss jim's personal replies and expertise - how well things change, look at our country (US) Sad

thanks

  sudden dive
Posted by: erhard52 - 03-19-2025, 08:16 PM - Forum: XtremeLink Radio System - Replies (50)

i wonder if anyone has a possible explanation for the following model behavior with nano receiver.

first time i crashed a larger glider 6 years ago the following way: i did i range test as recommended and forgot to remount the transmitter antenna. nevertheless i flew on a slope and the plane flew beautifully but then went into a sudden dive, i obviously pulled the elevator but nothing happen and just before crashing it recovered. oh i thought what was that and kept flying and it happened again, same thing it recovered. no i thought oh i better land. so i flew a larger loop behind the hill made a turn and the plane flew towards me ready for landing and suddenly when into a dive again and crashed.
obviously i blamed the missing antenna. i am not sure how fail safe is set but when i just turn off the transmitter all servos stay where they are.

second time just 1 week ago: another glider, flying happily and same dive behavior and plane luckily recovered. i thought it was maybe a down draft in the hills but way would it go in a real dive as if pushing down the elevator? after inspecting the plane i thought i found an issue with a lose vtail mount which allowed the vtail to slide along the fuselage. obviously nit good, so i fixed it thought that was it and following 5 flights or so where fine.
today i flew again and again the sudden dive happened and luckily i could recover just before crashing.

so what can this be?
down drafts don't seem to really explain the sudden dive
losing RC link should leave the servos in place and not cause the dive

any ideas what be great because it makes me very uncomfortable

btw: transmitter is a multiplex EVO 16 with XPS RF module

thanks
erhard
