XJT-D16 versus PPM latency |

Jim,
I was thinking about the latency in my RC systems.
I believe that my Futaba 9C transmitter delivers a new set of channel positions by way of PPM to the XPS transmitter module every 22,5 millisecinds.
Using the XJT-D16 protocol the Taranis delivers a new set of channel positions to the XPS JR-type module every 18 milliseconds.
This means I gain about 4.5 milliseconds using XJT-D16.
If I happened to be using all 16 channels I would be about twice as fast with XJT-D16 than I would be with PPM.
Is that correct?
Thanks,
Paul

RFU coax minimum bend radius |

Jim,
On the RFU's coax antenna leads, what is the minimum bend radius that will not cause any reduction in signal strength?
I understand that the bare tip must be kept straight, and that the angled antennas must be at least two inches apart.
Thanks,
Paul

X16 Sequencer |

Jim,
X16 setup. TX16S. Have set up all ch OK.
Not getting the sequencers I want.
Retracts and doors, Ch 5 on 3 pos switch.
X16 Ports A2 and B2 output from Ch 5.
Servos work OK.
Now to the sequencer: Trigger at 1500.
Tx Ch 5 Sw up Seq#1 triggers doors down. Port A2
Tx Ch 5 Sw up Seq#2 triggers gear down. Port B2
Not set up yet.
Tx Ch 5 Sw dn Seq#3 triggers gear up. Port B2
Tx Ch 5 Sw dn Seq#4 triggers doors up. Port A2
When all sequencers disabled, servos work. Expected.
One enabled, wrong servo works.
Both enabled, nothing works.
So tried duplicating Ch5 as Ch13 in Tx.
Ch 5 Seq#1 doors down. Port A2
Ch 13 Seq#2 gear down. Port B2
Same thing. Tx outputs do show in X16.
From reading the X16 manual am I misunderstanding the process?
Quite possible.
Can set it up from the Tx, but reckon that the X16 should do it too.
Cheers,

Hello Jim. I wanted to know if you think using the X10+ is ok for use in a 120cc 3D aerobatic plane. I have two of them and before I buy another X24, I was hoping I could use the X10+ instead.
Thank you in advance.
Regards,
Robert

Transmitter with Xtreme |

Jim,
I am considering a new transmitter and I would want one that could talk to XPS transmitter modules, receivers and channel expanders with the most direct, efficient protocol.
I have a vague recollection of a post somewhere in the old forum that states that one brand of transmitter used a protocol similar to your Xtreme protocol. I cannot find it using the search.
Can you recall what may have been posted about this possibility?
Thank you,
Paul

Settings for Taranis X9D |

I have just installed the JR Tx module into my Taranis, trying to go thru the radio setup. I have set it to the external module, PPM, and it is asking for the frame rate. It is showing 22.5ms, 300u. I assume this is correct? I have not found this addressed anywhere.

Possible incompatibility with the older 8-Channel XPS receiver and OpenTx and XJT-D16 |

Jim,
I have a perfectly working Nano/X10+v2 setup with a Jumper T12 Pro transmitter running OpenTx 2.3.10 and XPS XJT-J1 firmware v4.4.
I wanted to use the X10+v2 in another plane so I replaced the Nano/X10 with one of my older 8-channel XPS receivers.
I first used the push button method to set the factory defaults in the 8-channel receiver. Then I verified the country code was #1 for USA. Then I configured all of the channels for failsafe user-settable.
The 8-channel receiver binded successfully to the transmitter and all of the servos worked, until I noticed some random loss of control on all channels. I first thought I had the transmitter located too close to the receiver and was swamping the receiver, but that was not the case. I moved to about ten feet apart and still observed the random loss of control. With the range check button on the Tx module pressed I could get no more than about one foot of effective range!
I tried another older XPS 8-channel receiver with the same loss of control result.
Then I tried the Nano/X10 again and with the same transmitter it worked perfectly.
Then I tried binding the older 8-channel XPS receiver to my Futaba 9C transmitter with its XPS Tx module and it worked perfectly. That gave me an idea:
I configured the Jumper T12 and XPS-J1 module to use PPM instead of XJT-D16 and it now worked perfectly with the older 8-channel XPS receiver.
So I think there is some incompatibility between the older XPS 8-channel receiver, and OpenTx, XJT-D16, XPS-J1.
What do you think?
Thanks,
Paul
(yes it was raining all day so I had time for this sort of thing)

Can I operate an original XPS 8-Channel receiver without its case? |

Hi Jim,
I've been flying a foamie that is setup like a miniature bush plane with a four servo wing for flaps and ailerons.
Ch1 = Left aileron
Ch2 = Elevator
Ch3 = Throttle
Ch4 = Rudder
Ch5 = Right Aileron
Ch6 = Left flap
Ch7 = Right flap
Because I needed seven servo outputs I installed a Nano Rx and an X10+(V2) in the plane and all works perfectly. But now I want the X10 for a different project.
I am thinking about installing instead an original 8-Channel XPS receiver. With weight at a premium in the little foamie, could I remove the 8-Channel receiver's case and still use it safely?
Thanks,
Paul
